TRACK REVIEW: BOSTON CREAM – “DANCIN’ IN THE WRONG SHOES”

Written by NICHOLAS REGAN Posted February 10, 2017 Filed Under: MUSIC, Reviews

GENRE | Disco Punk

LABEL | Self-released

RELEASE DATE | January 26, 2017

VERDICT | I can’t stop dancing

Boston Cream is more than just a wonderful custard-filled treat, it’s now a supergroup of some incredible local musicians. Boston Cream is comprised of Melanie Bernier and Peaches S. Goodrich of The Barbazons (RIP), Joe Marret of CreaturoS and Hallelujah The Hills, and Nicholas Ward and Ryan Connelly who are also from Hallelujah The Hills. Each of these members hail from projects that have huge pull around the city and the idea of all this talent collaborating together is almost as mouth watering as the sweet treat they are named after.

“Dancin’ In The Wrong Shoes” is the second single released by the collective and it’s just shy of four minutes in length, which is around the average time it takes me to pound down a donut. While this statistic is strange, I feel it’s completely necessary because every second of this track is pure fun just like snarfing a pastry is. The drums drive extra hard as the buzzy guitar licks soar over ahead. It’s difficult to stop yourself from singing along with Bernier, it’s extremely meditative. While there are only two verses worth of lyrics that are repeated throughout the song, it stays true to the traditional structure of disco while adding a modern fuzzy vibe to top it off. I found myself having trouble typing this review because I was more focused on tapping my foot to the beat and drumming my hands on my keyboard, dreaming I was in this band.

Keep your eyes on the sweet shredders for more delicious jams from Boston Cream! Knowing the bands its members stem from, there will be plenty more goodness to down in the coming months.
