We’re not trying to brag, but Boston really is the best city for an increasing variety of incredible music events. The 32nd Annual MayFair festival is taking over Harvard Square yet again this year for a day of blissfully free events, including a ridiculous line-up of some of our favorite local acts. Don’t believe us? Swing by on May 3 to see The Sheila Divine, Freezepop, Bent Shapes, M’Bolo, Air Traffic Controller, Hallelujah The Hills, Grey Season, the Luxury, Vundabar, Funeral Advantage, Parks, and the Novel Ideas all play for free. Seriously, we’re not kidding.
All twelve bands will play on two different stages between 12PM and 6PM while various vendors and events take place in Harvard Square. The event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Harvard Square Business Association executive director Denise Jillson says they partnered with The Sinclair this year to help tap into the best resources available in Harvard Square. As such, the bands were hand-picked by Bowery Boston and are set to play in the Church Street Parking Lot and the Out of Town News Kiosk.
“Being able to combine our passion for the vibrancy of both Harvard Square and the Boston music scene is such an honor,” says says Josh Bhatti, head of the Bowery Presents’ Boston office. “We’re excited to showcase a variety of some of the best music in the city at this celebrated event that ushers in the fair weather season.” Well, we’re excited to go see it, Bhatti. Is it May yet?
