GOOD LUCK: PIXIES ANNOUNCE THREE SHOWS IN BOSTON

Written by NICHOLAS REGAN Posted February 2, 2017 Filed Under: MUSIC, Notes from the Scene

Boston’s favorite punk act the Pixies are returning to town in May for three shows. On May 19th and 20th, the band will play at House of Blues. On May 21st, they will play Paradise Rock Club. Unfortunately, these shows have all sold out already. Luckily, there are four months until the show, so you still have plenty of time to try and negotiate a ticket for face value in the Facebook event page.

Of course, a lot has changed since they last played in town, but we’re still anxiously awaiting the opening of Sonia’s, formerly known as T.T. the Bear’s, which Pixies were kind enough to help send off back in 2015. Now we’ll be seeing the band perform at two of the largest capacity venues in the city.

This hometown stretch of shows is going to be especially hot because Pixies will be accompanied by Staten Island’s finest Cymbals Eat Guitars. The pairing of Cymbals Eat Guitars with Pixies is nothing short of a miracle. The sound of Cymbals Eat Guitars seems heavily influenced by 90’s alternative bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, and Pixies. Each of these two bands released an album last year and are coming hot into the new year looking to spread their new sounds. Pixies’ Head Carrier and Cymbals Eat Guitars’ Pretty Years are both albums where the band name can have an s’ instead of ‘s. Head Carrier did not wow as many people as previous albums have but not matter what, Boston will always be excited for Pixies. Which brings us back to where we started: tickets are sold out, so good luck getting your hands on ’em in time for May.
