Just because you haven’t heard from him in a while doesn’t mean Black EL is lost; well, it might, but give us a second to explain. The rapper hasn’t released a new set of material since 2012, but his latest set, L_ST, now available SoundCloud, gives listeners a glimpse of what he’s been up to in the meantime: cruising in his “White ’95 Maxima,” playing some “Wave Race 64,” making noise with Michael Christmas (“Do Not Disturb”) and even doing a bit of singing between sips of “Olde English 800.” Co-producers Durkin and Victor Radz co-produce the LP’s 12 tracks (with the exception of “Indigo,” produced by SXMPLELIFE) with a lush electronic vibe that offers a new dimension to EL’s continually evolving style. In other words, it’s been worth the wait.
