RON SEXSMITH @ TT THE BEARS

sexsmith

So. A few things—one, acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith will be at T.T. the Bear’s this evening. Two, yes, that is his real name. Three, Sexsmith will be playing tracks from his much-loved latest offering, Long Player, Late Bloomer, which was produced by fellow canucklehead, the legendary Bob Rock. Four, yes, that is also his real name. Five, oh yeah, totally, he’s that dude from Some Kind of Monster, he did the producing for The Black Album. Six, it is a little weird, innit? JOE YOUNG @ JOHNNY D’S

jy

We would call Granite State solo-folkster Joe Young “Mighty” Joe Young, but we’re pretty sure that somebody else must have thought of that by now. Hell, we’ll check. Hmmm. Ha, seriously? Hot damn! We’re the first! Fuck yeah, we are totally milking this. John Darnielle, if John Darnielle had friends in high school, comes to Johnny D’s this evening, packed taut those sort of twangy, soulful tunes that’ll make you glad you saw him before his ticket-prices hit the high double-digits. They don’t call him “Mighty” Joe Young for nothing! And by they, we mean us. [17 Holland St., Davis Sq., Somerville. 617.776.2004. 8pm/$5. johnnyds.com]
