TASTING ROOM: YOUR FIRST LOOK AT TASTING COUNTER

Written by DAN MCCARTHY Posted June 15, 2015 Filed Under: Eats, LIFESTYLE

Tasting Counter, Peter Ungar’s long-awaited tasting-menu restaurant and culinary experiment, is finally about to open. [JULY 20 UPDATE: Tasting Counter opens Thursday July 23. See our previous coverage here.]

Between the unconventional setup of ticketed dinners with only 20 seatings per service (two seatings nightly), open kitchen with all staff performing cooking and serving duties, the partnership with Aeronaut Brewing for suds (there will be sake and wine as well), and a proprietary chocolate blend created by Somerville Chocolates, this sustainable-practice eatery stands to inject new life into the Somerville dining scene. (Fun fact: There will be no tipping here thanks to the liveable wage and collaborative structure set up for staff.)

Ungar said he and his team are “so, so close to opening” and by the looks of things inside that seems to be the case. Be sure to check out the slidehshow below, and get ready to be one of the ticket diners when they finally swing the doors open for good and all at the end of June.

TASTING COUNTER. SLATED TO OPEN END OF JUNE. 14 TYLER ST., SOMERVILLE. 617.299.6362. TASTINGCOUNTER.COM
