SOCIAL MEDIA FARM DIGFOGRAPHIC: THE #BOSTON HASHTAG TREE

Written by DIG STAFF Posted July 10, 2014 Filed Under: Uncategorized

HASHTAG TREE

Infographic by Tak Toyoshima, Concept by Chris Faraone, Analytics by Pandemic Labs

Additional research by Jenna Tramonti, Christine Young, and Rachael Blanchard

There’s a simple explanation for the eye candy before you: We wanted to identify the most popular hashtags in every facet of life around Boston. With that lofty goal in mind, we crowd-sourced and combed the web to compile a draft list, then handed that to the social media senseis at Pandemic Labs on Summer Street. They ran those picks through several search engines, normalized the data by analyzing 30-day snapshots of local trends, and finally conducted a seven-day audit of the worthy hashtags. Using Pandemic’s tweet and impression counts (listed below), we dropped the non-starters and hung the rest on our Twitter tree. Climb on up.
