REVIEW: LITTLEFOOT’S LATEST WILL HAVE YOU FLOATING

Written by SUSANNA JACKSON Posted December 1, 2014 Filed Under: Reviews

NEW WEB HEAD TEMPLATE (33)

NIGHT OF THE LIVIN
G DREAMS (available 12.5)

GENRE | AMBIENT SURF POP
LABEL | BUFU RECORDS

The first song on Littlefoot’s latest begins as if it were plucked out of, or vying for inclusion in, a Tarantino film. But it’s not wholly homage (accidental or otherwise); when vox enter the picture—Littlefoot’s trademark sad girl coos, complimented by flirtatious symbol—“Sad Love Song (From Someone Else)” transforms into a trance-y delight about the trouble of time. The nine songs that follow seamlessly flow into one another, brewing a thick haze of ambient twinkle and twang, but there’s little in the way of surprises from Night of The Living Dreams, which is both friend and foe. A jolt to the senses might firm up the dreamy cloud you find yourself floating on while listening. That said, it’s the kind of surf pop that inspires waves of hopeful daydreams, melancholy, nostalgia, and repeats. And that’s not a bad crest to find yourself on. Not bad at all.
